Schedule: Full time office project, no remote or telework. 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Temporary assignment - estimated 1 year assignment.

Located in Southeastern Washington State, on the Hanford reservation, The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The WTP project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.

Position Description: Directly performs or administers work of designers and drafters of a design group for a business line technology. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings for Nuclear facilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.

  • Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.

  • Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.

  • Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.

  • Reviews or defines engineering scope changes, as required, for project management.

  • Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.

  • Maintains up-to-date skills in Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) relevant to design work and ensures that maximum use is made thereof.

  • Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer aided drafting, engineering or technology and 13 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, 19 years of related experience is required.

  • US Citizenship Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-Roads design experience.
