ANR Group Inc Senior Soil Scientist in Richland, Washington

ANR Group Inc is accepting resumes for a Remote Senior Soil Scientist with the potential of multiple field site visits as necessary.

 

The hourly rate range for this position is $75-$95 per hour (plus full benefits). This position is initially expected to be a two year assignment, with the potential for extension.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK -- SPECIFIC

  • Requires characterization of soil change processes in engineered waste covers; characterization of sub-surface erosion in waste covers; and extensive experience using and knowledge of respective Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) rules, regulations, and guidance.
  • Technical support also requires critical analyses of engineered soil and erosion risk documents generated within Legacy Management Support (LMS) or by external stakeholders, travel to sites for field oversight and direction of soil sampling, and flume studies.
  • This work is highly complex and requires extensive education and experience in engineered soils performance, erosion risk assessment, reclamation and decommissioning, and technical collaboration with NRC and research universities.
  • A complete understanding of respective NRC erosion and radon regulations and guidance documents is critical.
  • This scope of services provides technical senior subject matter expert support for the Applied Studies and Technology (AS&T) program and the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA) Mexican Hat, Utah Disposal Site.

     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in soils engineering or pedology or minimum 15 years of experience in engineered soils performance studies and
  • Extensive experience studying UMTRCA disposal cells, NRC reclamation and decommissioning requirements for UMTRCA sites, and thorough understanding of respective NRC erosion and radon regulations and guidance
  • Proven experience collaborating with NRC and research universities on engineered soils performance studies, investigations, and

     

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant track record of professional publication in fields of pedology, geomorphology, and/or material
  • Site visit familiarity with UMTRCA sites to include but not limited to: Bluewater, Falls City, Mexican Hat, Shirley Basin, L-Bar, Lakeview, Grand Junction Disposal
  • DOE Rad Worker II
