POSITION PURPOSE: North Wind Solutions (NWSOL) is a government contracting small business with operations at military and civilian installations across the United States. The Richland site project's primary focus is providing mission critical support for the Hanford site in the areas of Cyber Security, IT Infrastructure deployment and management to include network operations, End User Support services, Application Engineering with emphasis on software development and support, Records Management, and Project Management for the execution across the spectrum of provided services. The Project Management organization is primarily responsible for the management of hundreds of software application projects at the Hanford Site. The North Winds team is in the midst of a major modernization effort towards a more agile methodology. In this phase of the transformation, project managers are responsible to ensure we maintain current software development processes while assisting and encouraging the implementation of new, agile processes alongside them. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will lead cross organizational teams, providing project management support on multiple small, mid-level, and enterprise level software projects simultaneously. Software project support includes the assessment, maintenance, documentation, modernization, testing, and implementation for both custom applications and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products. The IT project manager is responsible for supporting strategic initiatives at the Hanford site which will include; defining tasks and timelines, coordinating across departments, managing budgets, and ensuring timely delivery. The project manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, contractual commitments, and goals. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: Schedule Management: Create and maintain project schedules, including resource allocations, and stakeholder requirements. Regularly meet with development team to ensure balance between demand and capacity, review actual hours worked vs planned hours to ensure deadlines and budgets are maintained. Estimating and Budget Management: Provide rough order magnitude (ROM) estimates utilizing approved processes with input from development team. Manage project's budget, monitor progress, and evaluate project performance throughout project life cycle against planned budget. Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills to both internal and external project stakeholders. Manage stakeholder expectations, maintain productive relationships, and ensure client engagement during the project life cycle. Change Control: Document change control items per standard project management process, procedures, and best practices; tracking impact to schedule, scope, resources, and cost. Risk & Quality Management: Identify, assess, document, manage, mitigate, and communicate issues and risks throughout the project life cycle. Develop and maintain contingency plans based on identified project risks.
