Job Responsibilities/Duties

The Senior Engineering Technical Specialist oversees the administration of and leading improvements to selected engineering wide processes, programs, and administrative systems. Serves as the WRPS Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) liaison tracking and coordinating WRPS DNFSB related interactions.

Principle duties include the following:

  • Serve as the WRPS DNFSB Liaison to track and coordinate DNFSB related communications with WRPS leads, ORP, and DNFSB representatives.

  • Provide programmatic review and input to engineering monthly performance reporting and metric development.

  • Manage the administration of the engineering procedures program ensuring reviews of engineering plans, procedures, standards, guides and charters are appropriately distributed across the engineering organization for review and approval.

  • Serve as document owner and author for selected engineering programs procedures.

  • Manage the administration of the engineering assessment program ensuring Assessments and MOPs are scheduled, tracked and completed on time.

  • Serve as the engineering lead for the WRPS Action Request screening committee.

  • Serve as backup Engineering member for the Collective Significance Review process.

  • Serve as the Causal Analysis System Manager for the engineering organization.

  • Support performance of Engineering assessments.

  • Serves as the engineering Requirements Area Technical Analyst (RATA) supporting engineering departments requirements management alignment.

  • Assists procedure owners with IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation (DNG) requirement management.

  • Owns and manages the implementation of the Configuration Management Plan

  • Assists or leads process improvement efforts related to engineering configuration control.

  • Resolves equipment identification and labelling issues.

  • Work with Project Engineers and Design Authorities to coordinate engineering configuration control issues.

  • Perform special assignments as identified by Engineering Programs Manager and/or Chief Engineer

Required Qualifications

Grade 21:

Bachelors Degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline; and

Twelve (12) years of experience

Nuclear experience

Grade 22:

Bachelors Degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline; and

Fifteen (15) years of experience

Nuclear experience

Desired Qualifications

Five (5) years of experience working with engineering processes and procedures.

Experience with Operations (OE, Shift Manager, Ops Manager)

Experience working with engineering assessments and corrective action programs.

Experience communicating with executive level and external stakeholders.

Experience with IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation (DNG) requirement management software.

Familiarity with Smart Plant Foundation software as well as engineering processes utilized by DOE contractors.

Knowledge of ASME NQA-1 and other codes with regard to engineering change control.

Compensation & Benefits

Grade 21:

Hiring Range Minimum: $138,700

Hiring Range Maximum: $174,900

Grade 22:

Hiring Range Minimum: $155,625

Hiring Range Maximum: $204,775

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
