Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will represent WTP as the supplier’s project point of contact. You will execute the supplier quality function on the WTP Project, including administration of capability surveys, audits and area/shop quality surveillances, receipt inspection activities within limits of individual certifications. You will work with supplier representatives to ensure requirements are understood and implemented.

Part-Time Telework: This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Represents the procurement supplier quality function on the project. Plans and implements division of responsibility for project activities. Assures completion of tasks assigned by the Procurement Management Team.

  • Monitors the administrative and technical performance of Area Supplier Quality Representatives to assure that Corporate Supplier Quality Manual and Procedures and quality surveillance assignment instructions are implemented.

  • Reviews material requisitions including technical specifications with respect to quality requirements and participates with Engineering in determining levels of surveillance required and establishing witness and hold points.

  • Reviews, edits and signs reports prior to distribution and in accordance with project requirements. Distributes reports and correspondence in compliance with project document control procedures. Returns unsatisfactory reports for necessary corrections.

  • Facilitates communication between on and off project personnel across disciplines; provides project direction to assigned Area Supplier Quality Specialists; participates in resolution of technical and quality issues arising from area/shop Supplier Quality activities including monitoring of dispositions and corrections made to assure documented evidence of satisfactory closeout.

  • Participates in preparation of project corrective actions and root cause analyses to resolve significant issues that represent immediate or potential impact to the project.

  • Prepares and issues quality surveillance, capability survey and audit assignments for execution by the assigned Area Supplier Quality Specialists and reviews the procurement document requirements with Area Supplier Quality Specialist to ensure they are understood and implemented.

  • Participates in pre-award and post-award conferences with suppliers.

  • Prepares material requisition specific Quality Surveillance Plans and work instructions.

  • Attends specific shop visits such as initial visits, in-process surveillances performing Supplier Quality Specialist witness and hold points, or inspection activities at the shop or on project when directed by the Supplier Quality Supervisor.

  • Releases conforming material for shipment and notifies project procurement team to assist in coordination of their activities.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Supplier Quality Supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and a minimum of 6 years progressive related experience including but not limited to Procurement preferably in an engineering, procurement, and construction environment.

  • In lieu of formal degree a minimum of 12 years of progressive related experience including but not limited to Procurement, preferably in an engineering, procurement, and construction environment.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with major commodities typically procured for global business unit projects, recognized Codes and Standards, manufacturing methods, inspection/examination/testing techniques, and technical document review and implementation.

  • Experience or demonstrated proficiency in the concepts of administration of quality surveillance assignments, including capability surveys and compliance audits.

  • Familiarity with the supply chain process and quality management programs including ISO9000, ANSI N 45.2, 10CFR50 Appendix B and NQA-1.

  • A minimum of 6,000 hours of in-shop quality surveillance or related work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of standard computer applications.
