Program Coordinator- Upward Bound (Yakima, WA) Title: 107N-YN - Program Coordinator Business Title: Program Coordinator- Upward Bound (Yakima, WA) Location: WSU TRI-CITIES CAMPUS Employee Type: Classified Job Family: Civil Service - OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: The program coordinator for Upward Bound in the Yakima area will assist with coordinating program services, assisting in serving as liaison with schools, building positive working relationships with key community stakeholders, documenting student contacts, entering data, conducting workshops for students and parents, interviewing prospective students, and developing service plan for students, and providing academic counseling. Responsibilities include: student academic counseling, special event coordination, performing a variety of administrative support duties which include; responding to inquiries regarding programs and services, maintain database and record keeping systems, providing assistance with property inventory, processing purchasing requests, monitor and maintain expenditures, travel arrangements and record keeping. The position requires application of an in-depth knowledge of program areas. Also the ability to exercise independent, sound judgment; to maintain confidentiality, to organize complex and detailed information, to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and to communicate with students and parents in an appropriate manner. *This position has a working location in Yakima, WA Required Qualifications: • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience. Additional Qualifications: • Familiarity with academic programs and requirements; familiarity with financial aid policies/procedures. • Experience coordinating events • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in the use of computers and MS Office software including Word, Excel and Publisher and experience in maintaining computerized record systems. • Must have or be able to obtain at the time of hire, a valid driver's license. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including frequent travel off site and occasionally overnight. Preferred Qualifications: • Bi-lingual/Bi-literate in English and Spanish. • AA Degree or professional working experience in higher education setting; • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.Experience working with s students from a diverse background.
