We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest. Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Option for Full-Time Telework : This position is a full-time role that offers full-time telework in accordance with current business requirements, and works a 9/80 schedule offering every other Friday off. This position may require periodic travel to the Richland, Washington, project office via business trips. Relocation to the Richland, Washington, project office or job site may be required in the future if business requirements change.


  • 3D modeling of piping and equipment in a 3D model environment.

  • Preparation of drawings/documents for General Arrangements and piping isometrics drawings.

  • Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related disciplines.

  • Assists with plans and schedules and prepare/maintain design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents.

  • Interface with stress and pipe support engineers, construction, and suppliers during the preparation of piping designs for the purpose of model/space control, etc.

  • Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others.

  • Candidate should possess an advanced knowledge of piping codes such as ASME B31.3 or B31.1.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level One - AA/AS/Certification degree with 3 years of related design experience; or 7 years related design experience.

  • Level Two - AA/AS/Certification degree with 5 years of related design experience; or 9 years related design experience.

  • Hands-on use of Bentley Microstation 2D.

  • Hands-on experience using a 3D piping design platforms and isometric extraction.

  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 piping codes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

  • Possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on use of Bentley 3D modeling applications in piping design and area layout.

  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
