Hanford Mission Integration Solutions Operations Support Specialist (39473) in Richland, Washington

Job Duties/Scope Of Work Within the Radiological Site Services (RSS) organization the role of RSS Operations Support Specialists (OSS) will work with management and Dosimetrists to collect the data necessary to conduct occupational radiation dose measurements for HMIS and One-Hanford Contractor radiological workers (RW). Position duties include, but not limited to, the following: •Assigns external dosimeters to radiological workers (RW), collects them, and processes the dosimeters, estimating external dose, and sending estimated doses to REX. •Assigns analyses to radiological workers and conduct routine and incident bioassay measurements at the In-Vivo counting facility. •Assigns delivery and pickup of excreta sampling kits and review analytical results when received from the processing laboratory. •Analyzes dosimeter and bioassay results as part of the Hanford External Dosimetry Program and Hanford Internal Dosimetry Program teams of health physicists and scientists. •Assure that the pickup and delivery scheduled is maintained to meet customer needs. Manage and update contact information, delivery location and other calibration database changes and maintenance, as necessary. •Acts as coordinator and organizational support on problems and issues concerning in-vitro sampling and analytical results. •Identifies and implements policy changes as necessary. •Reviews operations to help develop plans to improve efficiency and reduce hazards. •Development of formal presentations. •Analyze problems to determine corrective actions to return to normal service. •Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner and, if supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits. •May provide work leadership, such as training new employees and present updated trainings to existing staff on newly changed procedures and processes. •Conduct Self-Assessment audits of the RSS activities as assigned by management. •Must be reliable, capable of multi-tasking, team oriented and maintain excellent customer relations. •Complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision or plans and carries out specialized assignments as requested. •Interfaces with other groups inside and outside of the organization, senior management, other locations, and auditors. Basic Qualifications •BA/BS degree plus one-year related experience - OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience. •Experience with computer applications that support radiation dose measurements or similar personnel safety or health programs. Desired Qualifications •Bachelor of Science or equivalent in a scientific or technical area. •Experience as a technician in internal or external dosimetry (processing external dosimeters, conducting direct [in-vivo] bioassay measurements, collecting and procuring analysis for excreta sampling and reviewing analytical results). •Recent experience in assignment and collection of external dosimeters and scheduling internal bioassay measurements ("Dosimetry Operations"). •Academic experience in information technology. •Previous employment in a measurement or processing facility. •Experience in creation and verification of radiation records. •Knowledge and experience with the specific computer programs REX and Sentinel.
