Job Duties/Scope Of Work This position serves as a Material Control Specialist (MCS), for the Hanford Fire Department (HFD) Support Services division. This position requires the MCS to analyze, plan, coordinate, facilitate and execute all work assignments that fall under the logistical support functions (including the coordination of office or station moves, habitability support, excessing of materials/equipment support, and assistance with tracking the material/services budget). Specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: • Maintaining awareness of HFD Operations (and employee) needs and issues to ensure logistical needs are identified/forecasted, procured, and delivered within the constraints of a 24 x 7 mission. • Supports the HFD Medical Program on sensitive item acquisitions, tracking status, and coordinating delivery and receipt using a p-card. • Working with the HFD Medical Program officer to dispose of expired pharmaceuticals through the appropriate process. • Researching, recommending, planning, and execution of purchasing processes necessary to obtain materials, equipment and services using the eBOM and SOS purchasing systems. • Receives daily assignments and direction from HFD leadership. • Collecting, reviewing, formatting, and uploading all HFD records in IDMS. • Coordinating routine instrument calibration, pickup and delivery. • Participate in HFD audits and self-assessments to ensure compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements. • Coordinating monthly advanced inspection and cleaning of firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). • Coordinating and mentoring interns hired in support of the logistics and support services. • Coordinating with outside vendors to size current firefighters and new recruits for required uniforms and PPE. • May serve as a member of Facility Emergency Response Organization (FERO) staff during drills and facility emergency response. • May provide logistical support during extended emergency responses. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in business administration, or related discipline plus 1 year of related experience - OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience in technical writing and/or presenting to management: business concepts, research assignments and/or assigned projects. • Intermediate working level knowledge with the Microsoft Office suite of programs. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • The successful candidate must be a self-starter with creative problem-solving skills, possess the ability to adapt to constantly changing organizational priorities, ability to handle multiple job tasks concurrently, and communicate with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external to the org. Desired Qualifications • In-depth knowledge and experience with procurement processes/procedures and software applications. • Basic knowledge of emergency management and/or fire terminology, PPE, and equipment.
