The internal auditor / risk analyst position supports the Enterprise Risk Management and Corporate Finance team. Direct responsibilities include process mapping, risk identification, and recommendation of control development related to information systems and data. This includes end-to-end process mapping and risk identification, with recommendation for appropriate controls and risk mitigation actions; and evaluation and recommendation on data and system governance and controls to ensure a trusted reporting and analytical capability. This position is responsible for ensuring state and federal grant and contract compliance with reporting, accounting standards, and regulations. This position will collaboratively work with various departments to assess, improve, and implement compliance process requirements while mitigating compliance risk by defining and executing appropriate controls.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Lead ongoing management of the agency wide Internal Audit Program in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards and agency procedural guidance, and support the Enterprise Risk Management program. Specifically, individual will provide direction , advise, monitor, report, and execute various program activities in accordance with defined laws, standards and procedure requirements. Additional direct responsibilities will include: development and execution of the annual internal audit plan, addressing emergent audit requests, ensuring program objectives and goals are being met, advising on effective implementation of program requirements, staying informed on industry and discipline guidance, and development and maintenance of a risk assurance map. This employee will conduct analysis, generate reports, generate presentations, provide presentations to all levels of management including up to the Executive Board when asked. This employee will be responsible for program level decisions in both internal controls and risk, ensuring an effective level of engagement with the organization and ensuring an effective cross-functional relationship with the Administrative Auditor.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Under the direction of the department manager & Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) supervisor, implement the organization’s internal audit program requirements in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization.

Principal accountabilities include such things as:

(1) Develop policies and procedures for the identification, collection and analysis of risk & control related information;

(2) Establish, communicate, and facilitate the use of appropriate risk & control methodologies, tools, and techniques;

(3) Collect, evaluate, and maintain data related to risk management;

(4) Work with EN business units to establish, maintain, and continuously improve risk management capabilities.

(5) Conduct audits and analysis as planned or requested and subsequently generate and present audit reports,

(6) conduct audit follow-ups,

(7) conduct small and large group trainings or workshops,

(8) interact and coordinate with the Executive Board Auditor and Executive Board point of contact,

(9) Maintain retention of audit records in accordance with Energy Northwest and State requirements

(10) Provide oversight and direction to risk/audit/activity specific matrixed employees or contractors as applicable

(11) Monitor effectiveness of program

(12) Ensure continuous improvement and alignment with the industry and/or discipline standards

(13) Conduct special studies/projects and their deliverables as assigned.

Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated.

Must support the biennial refueling outage.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Internal Audit/ Risk Analyst IV

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, in Accounting, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field and 10 years of progressive experience and responsibility working in internal audit, external audit, risk management and/or process improvement. Three of the ten years should be in a senior, lead, supervisory or management position;

OR an AA degree and 12 years of progressive experience and responsibility working in internal audit, external audit, risk management and/or process improvement,

OR a High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of progressive experience and responsibility working in internal audit, external audit, risk management and/or process improvement. A master’s degree in business administration or finance from an accredited college or university can be substituted for two years of experience.

Internal Audit/ Risk Analyst III

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field and seven years of progressive experience and responsibility working in internal audit, external audit, risk management and/or process improvement,

OR an AA degree and 9 years of progressive experience and responsibility working in internal audit, external audit, risk management and/or process improvement,

OR a High School Diploma or GED and 11 years of progressive experience and responsibility working in internal audit, external audit, risk management and/or process improvement. A master’s degree in business administration or finance from an accredited college or university can be substituted for two years of experience.

Pay Range:

Internal Audit/ Risk Analyst IV Salary: $119,107 - $178,661

Midpoint: $148,884

Internal Audit/ Risk Analyst III Salary: $103,563 - $155,345

Midpoint: $129,454

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
