Framatome Health & Safety Technician I-III in Richland, Washington
Framatome is seeking a Health & Safety Technician for our Mill Ridge Road office in Richland, WA. Under broad supervision, the Health & Safety Technician protects employees, the public and the environment from the effects of ionizing radiation through the performance of license and procedurally required tasks which define the methods for surveillance, sampling, and analysis of the workplace and the environment. Be competent to perform tasks that may impact on health and safety in the workplace. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
May perform general instrument calibration and utilize equipment point source and inverse square law mathematics.
Receives radioactive material shipments.
Assists in radioactive shipment preparation.
May assist in the preparation of radiation work permits or job permits.
Ensures that monitored activities are performed in accord with the ALARA philosophy and procedures.
Generates thorough, accurate, and timely radiological survey and analysis documents.
Correctly select, test, and operate surveillance instrumentation.
Correctly post and control various areas requiring radiological controls.
May provide efficiency checks of survey instruments and laboratory equipment.
May assist in calibration/maintenance of survey instruments and laboratory equipment.
Monitors the transfer of material, equipment, and personnel across radiological control boundaries.
Thoroughly survey and assess areas in respect to dose rates and contamination levels.
Reports deficiencies in accordance with procedure.
Conducts audits in accordance with procedure including criticality safety and Industrial safety.
Maintains the cleanliness and order of work areas.
Carryout directions of Radiation Monitoring Team Captain in the event of a radiological emergency or drill.
Solve math problems involving algebra and the natural log function.
Performs environmental sampling for analysis.
Performs personnel decontamination.

Health and Safety Tech I – High School diploma with 0-2 years experience in the field and complete the fundamental Health Physics courses.
Health and Safety Tech II - High School diploma with 2-4 years experience in the field and complete the fundamental Health Physics courses.
Health and Safety Tech III - High School diploma with 5 plus years experience or Associates Degree in Biological or Physical Sciences with 4 years of applied health physics experience.

Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the nuclear industry.
Five or more years of experience in the radiation safety field and completion of a fundamental Health Physics courses.
An AAS degree in Health Physics or the equivalent education and radiological safety experience e.g. NRRPT Certification
