Job Duties/Scope Of Work The Hanford External Dosimetry Technical Lead is responsible for the technical direction and management of the Hanford External Dosimetry Program and support to (as required) Hanford Radiological Records Program in accordance with applicable regulations (10 CFR Part 835) and the needs of DOE-RL, DOE-ORP, and Hanford contractors in support of their radiological control programs. Specific duties include: * The Technical Lead provides monitoring and evaluation of workers for external exposure to radioactive material and maintains all Hanford radiological records. * Ensures preparation and maintenance of program documentation including procedures, program manual, records inventory and disposition schedule and quality assurance plan. * Evaluates skin contaminations using Varskin program. * Develops and implements technical studies to support the external monitoring program or advances the state-of-the art program. * Ensures program capabilities are adequate to meet or exceed the DOE Laboratory Accreditation Program (DOELAP) performance testing criteria and onsite assessment criteria. * Determines training requirements and ensures external dosimetry staff are properly trained. Provides staff the resources to perform their work. * Assists in the preparation of budget, assist with contract development, monitor spending, track progress of tasks. * Ensures that hazards associated with the program are identified and adequately controlled. * Ensures that equipment is maintained in good working condition, that there are sufficient spares, that future capital equipment needs are planned for and requests are submitted sufficiently in advance (years). * Submits status reports to DOE-RL and Hanford customers upon request. * Interacts with clients for problem resolution and handles special requests. * Represents the Program on the Hanford Personnel Dosimetry Advisory Committee. * Assesses external dose, establishing Hanford policy for external dosimetry, environmental, and nuclear accident dosimeter capabilities to Hanford Site clients. * Prioritizes, directs, and reviews the activities of assigned staff to ensure that project work is completed in a timely and cost effective manner; that a quality product is consistently delivered to clients; that corrective actions identified internally or as a result of audits or assessments are completed in a timely manner. * The Hanford External Dosimetry Program lead will assure that the Hanford External dosimetry program maintains DOELAP accreditation. This will include preparing and conducting necessary reviews every three years for the DOELAP accreditation. Basic Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in Health Physics (or radiological sciences or equivalent), engineering or related field, with 5+ years' experience or an equivalent combination of education or experience.2. Professional-level experience in health physics. Desired Qualifications 1. Master's degree in Health Physics (or radiological sciences or equivalent), engineering or related field. 2.
