Schedule: Monday - Friday/ 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm Gross Technician I performs daily activities associated with the processing of laboratory specimens for diagnostic pathology under the direction of the Pathologists' Assistant Supervisor and/or Pathologist Assistant. Receives specimens, documents the macroscopic descriptions and prepares low to moderate complexity surgical pathology specimens for processing. You Will: Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of surgical specimens for Histologic processing, according to policies and procedures. Escalate non-routine, complicated surgical specimens to Pathologist Assistant and/or Pathologist Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations: supporting department in inspection readiness Maintains cleanliness of grossing area and perform scheduled maintenance Maintain orderly storage of surgical specimens Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Certifications Associate degree in laboratory science with a minimum of 60 hours in science related course studies: or Bachelor of Science degree preferred One (1) year of Histology and/or surgical gross experience: three (3) years histology and/or surgical gross experience preferred Meet all requirements as outlined in 1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489 Skills and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively under pressure & to work independently Flexible and committed to the team concept Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
