We are currently seeking to add a Geotechnical Engineering Staff to our dynamic team in Richland, Washington or Walla Walla, Washington.

$65,000 to $80,000 annually, full time, 50% in field/50% in office with benefits.

PBS Engineering and Environmental is looking for client-focused team players with strong communication skills. This position will work closely with a dedicated group of senior professional geotechnical engineers, geologists, and environmental hydrogeologists and geologists.

*Minimum Qualifications *

  • Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering with geotechnical focus, or other related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 0 to 5+ years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with or without accommodations
  • Valid Driver's License

Desirable Qualifications

  • Current HAZWOPER 40-hour certification
  • Willingness to travel for field jobs (generally within 3 hours of office and up to 2 nights)
  • Comfortable working in remote areas with limited services
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical field exploration and materials testing
  • Collect and return field samples to in-house laboratory for analysis
  • Document findings and communicate results to engineers and professionals
  • Complete geotechnical engineering analyses
  • Prepare sections of geotechnical engineering reports
  • Provide construction observation and monitoring to evaluate compliance with recommendations
