Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Financial Coordinator 1 in Richland, Washington

Overview

The Earth Systems Science Division is seeking a financial coordinator to support tasks within projects, project portfolios, and larger programs, including, but not limited to:

  • Project spend plan and cost sheet development

  • Project budget tracking

  • Proposal preparation

  • Project deliverable tracking

  • Purchasing

  • Subcontract and invoice tracking

  • Managing internal and external reporting

  • Record keeping

  • Project close out

  • Coordinating between project team members, project managers, and business managers

Responsibilities

Assists in daily coordination of project(s) including preparing and maintaining project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements. Tracks progress and identifies/resolves obstacles. Communicates to internal and external clients. Prepares purchase requisitions (PRs) and tracks procurements and service contracts throughout lifecycle. Supports business office in setting up financial structures, work breakdown structures, and maintains financial integrity. Has knowledge of a wide-range of PNNL business systems. May perform some administrative tasks such and arranging meetings, developing agendas and preparing progress reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or higher -OR-

  • AA and 10 years of relevant experience -OR-

  • HS/GED and 12 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial support and budget management

  • Ability to work independently and experience working on interdisciplinary teams and/or with collaborators from different backgrounds

  • Ability to take direction, ask questions, and follow-up in a timely manner

  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent time management, multitasking, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite

In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, new employees are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.

Mandatory Requirements

Please be aware that the Department of Energy (DOE) prohibits DOE employees and contractors from having any affiliation with the foreign government of a country DOE has identified as a “country of risk” without explicit approval by DOE and Battelle. Starting pay is calculated from the minimum of the pay range and actual placement in the range is determined based on an individual’s relevant job-related skills, qualifications, and experience.
