As an Experienced Fuel Rod Design Engineer in Richland, WA or Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Fuel Business Unit. You will be responsible for the design and analyses of Framatome fuel rods and control rods as well as the development of codes and methods for nuclear applications. Typical assignments include: Perform thermal and mechanical analyses to support the safe irradiation of existing and advanced fuel designs. These analyses involve the use of engineering computer codes and employ both empirical and first principal methods. Maintain existing fuel rod analysis codes and develop automation software to streamline the analyses. Participate in and support interfaces with customer and regulatory authorities to obtain regulatory approval of the Framatome reactor core design, codes, and methods. Prepare and review design specifications, calculation files, test requirements and associated reports. This position requires occasional travel.
