Our Regulatory Strategy & Integration team is seeking a dynamic Junior Environmental Scientist to support our mission in progressing the environmental restoration program through gaining regulator concurrence on Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) decision documents, moving the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program from Interim Status to Final Status and ensuring compliance with the Atomic Energy Act (AEA) program requirements. The Environmental Scientist job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to the following: * Supporting soil and groundwater remedies through data evaluation and remedy optimization. * Review and interpretation of RCRA and dangerous waste regulations and guidance to address environmental compliance and permitting requirements in clean up, closure, and permitting document development. * Authoring, reviewing, and performing document tasks on remedy decision documents within CERCLA, preparing presentations, preparing meeting notes and defining investigation needs and preparing sampling and analysis plans. * Working with project environmental resources and other permitting team members to draft permitting documents and draft permitting material to support dangerous waste operations and unit closure. * Authoring, reviewing, and performing document tasks for groundwater monitoring, closure, and permit development to address RCRA requirements for permitting and environmental cleanup. * Assisting in defining strategic approaches for cleanup and closure and review, organizing, evaluating, and reporting groundwater and soils data. * Performing evaluations to determine whether monitoring networks, monitoring plans, and their supporting documents address regulatory requirements, and contribute to the completion of environmental cleanup objectives. * Cooperatively working with DOE, State of Washington Department of Ecology and EPA in meetings and workshops. * Working within a structured team on special and routine tasks for completing the baseline scope, requests by the local DOE customer, DOE headquarters and the local regulators. * Performing work in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner. * Willingness to learn meeting facilitation. * Willingness to learn Geographic Information System software and geology graphics creation. Basic Qualifications * Intermediate Level Grade 16: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 2 or more years of relevant experience. * Career Level Grade 18: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 6 or more years of relevant experience.
