GENERAL SUMMARY

Environmental Planning Supervisor to oversee the development of an Environmental Report used to support the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement EIS for licensing of one or more new energy facilities. The position will lead or perform a full spectrum of research, field work, documentation, report preparation, and coordination services to Energy Northwest. The Environmental Planning Supervisor will be responsible for the environmental documentation, and environmental planning in support of state and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review for new energy project(s). This position requires critical understanding of high level NEPA and Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) policy.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Participate in multi-faceted NEPA/SEPA project for multi-agency review and approval. Lead or carry out hands-on work in the areas of conducting environmental research and document review, preliminary assessments, environmental planning, and preparation of NEPA documentation, and federal permit applications. Lead the environment project management and any support team members through writing an Environmental Report and review of agency prepared EIS for NEPA adequacy, consistency, and content. Spearhead coordination of multiple EIS components, help with agency coordination and tracking of project details.

  2. Coordinate with federal resource agencies, clients, staff and other professionals to obtain project information and secure NEPA/SEPA document approvals. Think and explore creative solutions in NEPA and SEPA process where previous approvals were granted and/or historical documentation exists.

  3. Schedule in agency meetings.

  4. Prepare and track project-related correspondence and records.

  5. Interact with or help coordinate other personnel, including project engineers, subject matter experts or other contract support staff.

  6. Perform or support light field work in support of accurate documentation of environmental issues.

  7. Work with Dept. of Energy land owner and Legal team on modification of land lease documents, as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited environmental, planning, engineering or related science program required. Six years of progressively responsible NEPA and/or environmental compliance project experience required.

Experience must include EIS-level analysis and/or coordination. The ideal candidate will have led an EIS preparation and understand the complexities of high-level NEPA and SEPA in WA State.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have experience to independently determine what is needed in an EIS section and be able to draft the section based on existing technical reports and information.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree from an accredited environmental, planning, engineering, or related science program is preferred.

Project environmental experience in the electric power industry is preferred.

Pay Range

$136,961.00 - $205,441.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$171,201.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
