Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

This position is a full-time role that offers full-time telework in accordance with current business requirements, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. This position may require periodic travel to the Richland, Washington project office via business trips. Relocation to the Richland, Washington project office or job site may be required in the future if business requirements change.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Able to serve in a senior level Engineering leadership and customer interface role to resolve technical and quality issues as they arise. The focus of this role is developing and providing the infrastructure that supports the Project Engineering Managers and the Engineering production teams.

  • Demonstrated ability in information processing, trend recognition and complex problem solving.

  • Seasoned professional in Bechtel engineering work processes, procedures, corrective action management and quality improvement.

  • Knowledge of background and implementation of ASME NQA-1 for nuclear work.

  • Root and Apparent Cause Analysis experience.

  • Excellent interface and communication skills. Able to earn customer trust through responsiveness, honesty, and follow-through.

  • Able to communicate and interface effectively at multiple levels within the Engineering and WTP Project organization.

  • Presents information effectively in both oral and written forms. Summarizes complex and detailed information effectively.

  • Conduct special projects to identify emerging issues, impacts and associated actions.

  • Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and other communications products.

  • Establish and facilitate integration meetings with WTP, DOE and interfacing contractors.

  • Complies with contractually specified federal and state safety codes, requirements, and standards.

  • Implements and maintains a strong nuclear safety and quality culture in the execution of the responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 15 or more years of progressively responsible experience, including management experience; OR in lieu of a degree, a combination of 21 years of progressively responsible and related experience, and relevant education

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Requires a broad knowledge of managing multiple organizations

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally

  • Demonstrated passion for continuous improvement/change

  • Demonstrated ability to move issues to action

  • Demonstrated ability to influence

  • Experience on large EPC projects is a plus

  • Experience at the DOE Hanford site a plus

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in plant operations and maintenance projects

  • Skill in supervision and administration

  • Strong work ethic, high integrity, self-motivation, positive attitude, goal oriented, ability to efficiently achieve quality results

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including open and honest one-on-one and group communications.

  • Skill in preparation of oral and written reports

  • Planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize and coordinate workload within a multiple project setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with peers, management, customers, and end users, and to work cooperatively in a teamwork environment.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments within a fast-paced changing environment

  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of project personnel in developing working solutions to complex problems

  • Ability to plan and schedule assigned work and complete tasks on time

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities

  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives
