Energy Northwest Energy Services Intern - Year Round in Richland, Washington

This internship is a part-time, year-round internship within our Energy & Professional Services department. The intern will assist with our workforce development program where we partner with Columbia Basin College and will also assist with various other projects that are focused on clean energy/grant coordination. GENERAL SUMMARY

Provide entry-level administrative and/or technical support for the designated organization based on assigned projects. This position will be directly accountable to assigned department staff and will support assigned project related activities and initiatives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Support assigned routine department activities

Support technical project-related activities within the department

Support emergent related work or assignments

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Requires current part to full time enrollment status in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in an administrative field related to the assigned role at an accredited college or university.

Target hire designation is determined by the expected knowledge level needed for the job duties assigned to each internship and by the expected status level of the student when the internship commences (Senior, Junior, etc).

Must maintain a minimum 2.8 cumulative G.P.A. unless approved by Human Resources.

The selected candidate will be expected to be available to work onsite at the designated work location on a year-round basis if business needs warrant it.

High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail for preparing reports, updating schedules, and reviewing program logistics.

  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Tasks:

--> Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Assist in creating and maintaining the summer internship program schedule, including onboarding sessions, workshops, and presentations.

  • Schedule meetings, events, and mentorship sessions, ensuring proper communication of time and location to participants.

  • Coordinate calendars of mentors, interns, and program leaders to avoid scheduling conflicts.

--> Communications:

  • Draft and distribute program announcements, event invitations, and newsletters.

  • Prepare communication templates for program updates and key milestones.

--> Program Planning:

  • Collaborate with program leaders to plan social and professional development activities for interns.

  • Help organize orientation and wrap-up events for interns and mentors.

  • Reserve meeting rooms and prepare materials for in-person and virtual program events.

  • Provide support during professional development workshops, ensuring speakers and participants have everything they need.

Pay Range :

Benefits

Temporary employees may be required to participate in the Washington State Pension Plan (PERS) and may also be eligible to enroll in medical insurance if the duration and hours worked requirements are met. Temporary employees accrue paid time off that is available to use after 90 days of employment.
