Job Duties/Scope Of Work Emergency Preparedness Specialist working in the Radiological Assistance Program (RAP) with responsibilities as an Equipment Coordinator. This is a team-oriented position responsible for equipment calibrations, maintenance, procedures, and maintaining the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Headquarters database. In addition, the Equipment Coordinator assists with developing, delivering and evaluating radiological and nuclear training and exercise support to federal, state, local and tribal agencies and emergency response organizations; assists with making Department of Energy emergency response resources available to these agencies. Works effectively with individuals, understands law enforcement, hazmat, incident command, and National Incident Management System methodologies. This position requires a considerable amount of travel. This position will also be expected to become fully qualified as a RAP Team Captain and be able to deploy with the team 24/7. The Emergency Preparedness Specialist/Equipment Coordinator will assist and support team outreach efforts within the region. Basic Qualifications •BA/BS plus 8 years' experience in areas such as RAP emergency response, radiation detection; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. •Must have experience with RAP specialized equipment and software. •Knowledge of health physics and radiation protection theory and practices, instrumentation and work with spreadsheets and database management. •Strong customer service skills required. •Must be able to obtain/maintain a "Q" Clearance. Desired Qualifications •Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations pertaining to Department of Transportation shipments of radiological material and non-radiological hazardous materials relevant to RAP is highly desirable. •Experience providing instruction in radiation science and in the delivery of drills and exercises. •Experience as a current RAP team member. •Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver's License is highly desirable.
