Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

The Collections Manager & Assistant Director serves as day-to-day operations director. Responsibilities include but not limited to fiscal planning, budget management, supervision of volunteers and student interns, policy development and implementation, safety and security, and risk management for HHP (Hanford History Project) and its Hanford Curation Services contract. Oversight of all aspects of collections care and management for the U. S. Department of Energy's Hanford Collection and HHP/WSU owned and managed collections. Facilitates access to HHP collections, including the Hanford Collection, through loans to museums, assisting students and researchers, managing HHP's online archive (www.hanfordhistory.com), and leading outreach projects. Represents the director as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area (relevant Bachelor's degrees include museum studies, history, anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field).

 

• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Master's degree in museum studies, history, archaeology, or related field.

 

• Two years of full-time experience with artifact preservation; and/or experience in research, writing, teaching, interpretation, or other professional activity with an academic institution, historic organization or agency, museum, or other professional institution.

Monthly Salary: $4383.00 - $6579.00

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
