Summary of Functions:
Under general supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, the Staff Accountant position is responsible for ensuring that all banking transactions of the business have been properly accounted for and accurately reflect the company's accounting process. Must be familiar with general accounting, bookkeeping, basic computer skills, working in teams and working alone under self-direction. Good communications skills are essential, as the position has contacts to various levels within the organization, as well as customers, and banks.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts daily (GL to bank statements). Match Automated Journals created in Blackline to corresponding transactions on GL.
Identify and record miscellaneous transactions daily.
Update month end reconciliation worksheet daily.
Initiate daily wire/ACH transfers as needed.
Assign internal batch numbers to all deposits, and maintain internal Bank Balance report.
Track all insufficient funds payments, complete chargeback to patient accounts as necessary.
Record all cash receipt deposits exceptions in Blackline into general journal (Microsoft Dynamics GP).
Perform bank reconciliations monthly.
Record and maintain unclaimed property report monthly.
Provide coverage for team as needed.
Have the ability to be flexible with your work schedule if it is necessary to meet deadlines or deliverables as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor, Manager or Executive Management. This is a requirement during End of Month Close.
Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum of 2 years accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Team player and have ability to work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization.
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP and Blackline.
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage various work assignments in a fast paced environment.
