Ameresco Project Engineer in Renton, Washington

New opportunity based in the Pacific Northwest for a Project Engineer with experience in commercial buildings and mechanical systems to join Ameresco’s Northwest Regional Team in developing and implementing project opportunities in energy efficiency and renewable technology. Position is located in either Portland, OR or Renton, WA.

  • Attend site visits with auditing team to observe existing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems and document energy performance information, including utility data and facility infrastructure drawings;

  • Gather and review utility bills; populate and organize utility data into spreadsheet tool and perform UBA (utility bill analysis);

  • Assist with developing testing and monitoring plans for energy audits;

  • Deploy and retrieve data logging devices for HVAC and lighting equipment; convert logger data to MS Excel format; prepare tables, charts and graphs;

  • Assist with preparation of energy savings calculations and technical engineering assessment;

  • Support Project Developers in the preparation of conceptual and detailed design and bid documents, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for energy efficient building technology and system measures;

  • Prepare utility incentive and/or rebate applications;

  • Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships;

  • Travel: regional day trips, with some overnight travel. Up to 10%; and

  • Perform other duties as required.


BA/BS degree in Engineering.

Two years experience working (internship experience included) in a related field.

Valid Driver’s License issued by state of residence and in good standing.


Engineer in Training (EIT).

Experience with spreadsheet calculations and developing formulas and macros.

Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Google Earth/Maps.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and quantify energy savings.

Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in energy savings performance contracting.

Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and technical presentation skills.
