Requisition Summary
The Product Definition Manager is responsible for managing the team that prepares Kenworth and Peterbilt parts for Aftermarket availability. This position ensures readiness for new model introductions and existing model part changes in order to provide high levels of aftermarket parts support. This position also maintains assignment of inventory stock requirements, lifecycle part attribute definition and VMRS workflow to improve productivity.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Recruit, train and lead a team of Product Definition Analysts responsible for completing projects related to new model introductions and changes to existing products.
Establish, implement and measure employee performance metrics. Provide feedback and determine corrective action as required. Manage team on illustration requirements, VMRS and DAF vehicle codes for workflow responsibilities.
Identify strategic market opportunities by collaborating with Pricing, Purchasing, Product Marketing, Operations, Materials, Customer Service and Engineering.
Participate in new system and business process development of information generated by DAF and the truck divisions for products supported in North America.
Direct and communicate with suppliers regarding standards on service definition, RFQs, and new Aftermarket only parts
Manage VMRS codes and updates from ATA for Division VMRS decoder use, truck division, internal inquiries and service type relationship
Direct and communicate to various Truck Divisions, Corporate Compliance, Purchasing and internal PPD departments regarding part availability, stocking status, Emission Related coding, and aftermarket supplier sourcing.
This role requires 10% travel to other PACCAR locations.
Skills / Competencies
Proven desire and ability to drive improvements in productivity and quality
Track record of managing complex projects to successful completion
Ability to work successfully within a cross functional team environment
Understanding of PCMS, PPS, COPICS, Rapido, Team Center, ASI and the Product Change Process at PACCAR
Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel and Access including designing and implementing database applications, forms, modules and reports
Proven analytical, verbal, written and problem solving skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain a high level of productivity
General knowledge of the design and functionality of PACCAR truck, engine products and service parts
Qualifications
Bachelors in Business, Engineering or related field required
MBA or other advanced degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation, aftermarket parts or related field required
Proven ability to drive high impact results
Six Sigma Belt with DFSS experience preferred
Ability to work successfully and collaboratively within cross-functional business environment with a demonstrated ability to succeed
Understanding of key drivers of the aftermarket parts business including part replacement rates, key competitors, substitution alternatives, maintenance/repair practices and service requirements
Knowledge of engineering, plant and manufacturing processes, dealer service and/or purchasing and/or product marketing
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to present findings and recommendations to senior level management
Outgoing, high organized and energetic self-starter with high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple priorities
