The Principal Client Engineer is responsible for establishing the systems and processes required to define, implement, and track configuration of the client computing environment at Providence Health Plan. This individual must effectively collaborate with different business and IT groups across the organization to design and deliver a progressive, high-quality client architecture that complies with security, software/hardware standards, and applicable regulations. This includes physical, virtual, and mobile client solutions. Providence Health Plan welcomes 100% remote work for applicants who reside in the following states: Washington Oregon California Please note the following important detail regarding this role: This position is affiliated with Providence Health Plan and will be tied to a location and compensation range in Beaverton, Oregon Essential Functions: Assist in defining, documenting, and communicating the client technology strategy including the definition and enforcement of standards Automation of the client hardware and software provisioning & delivery architecture Design a reliable and repeatable build process of physical and virtual desktops Manage the client infrastructure aspects of technology migration, including capacity planning, security, software lifecycle, and performance management Maintain awareness of current direction and changes in new technology, advances in the computer industry and relevant client systems such as VDI Lead improvements based on technology, best practices, or changing requirements Evaluate, perform proof-of-concepts, and assist in developing business use cases containing ROI opportunities for new client products or platforms Develop the processes with which client hardware and software are automatically and regularly inventoried and available Perform unit testing of packages, application configurations, images and configuration performance using manual and automated testing tools Implement and oversee execution of system management and control disciplines to ensure data security, integrity, confidentiality, and recoverability Serve as 3rd and nth level support for all client related issues in keeping with the organization's incident and problem management escalation procedures Communicate with all levels of IT Leadership and Business Partners across Providence Health Plan's environment regarding client platforms and software deployment activity Mentor's junior engineers to develop technical skills towards a senior position Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience with Directory Services (LDAP/AD/EntraID) and thorough knowledge of client management platforms such as Microsoft Group Policy and Intune Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft client operating systems, Office suite, and automated and unattended provisioning and configuration on these platforms; specifically, Wind
