TEKsystems Inpatient Medical Coder in Renton, Washington

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for hospital inpatient coding and abstracting based on documentation and coding guidelines within established productivity standards for all accounts assigned. Resolves coding related edits and denials and provides ongoing feedback and education to physicians and clinicians. Responsible for following up on all accounts unable to code due to missing/incomplete documentation or charges. certifications in at least one of the following areas: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P.

OVERVIEW: Responsible for abstracting and providing CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes for procedures. Resolves coding related edits and denials, and provides ongoing physician feedback and education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in HIM, required.

  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required.

  • 3 or more years exclusively in inpatient hospital coding experience, required.

  • Experience in OB or ENT coding, General Surgery (except open heart), codes for Length of stay 3-5 days.

  • Must have Epic

  • Demonstrated advanced ability to use and understand DRG, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS coding methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, disease processes and medical terminology

**Plus for Experience in Ambulatory/Surgery Coding and experience in Endoscopy/GI Coding

**3M Coding exposure AND series coding would be a great bonus

**Auditing would be nice

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00
