Confidential Fiber Optic Engineer in RENTON, Washington
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare specifications, drawings, and technical documents for fiber optic devices per internal customer requests;
- Identify, propose, and develop new fiber optic technologies, IP, and products;
- Propose changes in fiber optic equipment, processes, or use of materials or services;
- Prepare work instructions and train operators in making products with technical documentation;
- Comply with government and industry specific requirements by studying existing and new requirements and anticipating future requirements;
- Propose and work on assigned R&D projects and report on project status and ensure following through project timeline; and
- Keep up with new technology development and industrial trend to provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field;
- Must possess solid understanding of fiber optics and principles of lasers;
- Must possess the skills of fiber handling and fusion splicer operation; laser alignment and coupling; and optical system test and measurement;
- Must be familiar with using optical spectrum analyzer, fiber laser, optical power meter, fiber fusion splicer, optical polarization controller, optical coupler, optical isolator;
- and Must possess knowledge of optical birefringent crystals.
