Providence Health & Services Contract Administrator, Sourcing New Product in Renton, Washington


Providence is calling a Contract Administrator, Sourcing New Product to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA or Irvine, CA.

We are seeking Contract Administrator to be responsible for the identification and preliminary analysis of contracting opportunities. This position will be responsible for pursuing the contracting opportunities through the use of negotiations, Request for Proposal (RFP) and competitive bidding processes. This includes promoting cost effectiveness and operational efficiency in the contracting, purchasing, and utilization and for performing other duties and responsibilities in support of the programs, activities, and staff of the One Supply Chain Management strategy. Primary responsibilities include: managing strategic supplier relationships with regard to Region and Facility level sourcing, negotiation and administration of agreements for the Region and Facilities team; managing facility and or Region contracts “upward” toward enterprise-wide strategies; managing strategic supplier relationships; coordinating and facilitating resource sharing and consensus building processes and programs in collaboration with administrative, clinical and non-clinical staff.

In this position you will:

  • Be responsible for supporting the new product entry process (policy PROV-SCM-009).

  • Be responsible for contracting in support of new product requests submitted via the PRF. Collaborate with the other Sourcing Directors to coordinate initial review and subsequent contracting efforts and move contracts toward enterprise wide strategies where possible.

  • Collaborate with Value Analysis leads to maximize regional and facility utilization opportunities.

  • Manage facility based contracting into region level contracts where appropriate.

  • Be responsible for vendor relationships with specific emphasis, price/service negotiations, vendor integrity and ethics in procurement activities.

  • Help develop and monitors vendor performance objectives.

  • Communicate effectively with executive and operations leadership to ensure that existing levels of contracting service and savings are maintained.

  • Develop and maintain contract savings and tracking reporting.

  • Ensure that sourcing programs and resulting contracts operate in accordance with federal and state regulations.

  • Support and manage the OSMC strategic plan for contracts and monitors contract compliance.

  • Maintain OSCM contracts database in conjunction with counterparts in the other regions.

  • Able to use database tools to analyze and identify contracting opportunities at facility, region and across regions.

  • Collaborate with the Manager Strategic Sourcing, Price Management to establish and monitor appropriate contracting policy.

  • Develop implementation strategy for all new contracts. Work closely with Value Analysis, Procurement and Operations & Logistics leadership as appropriate to ensure successful implementations.

  • Interact with GPO to develop contracting strategies and contracts.

  • Collaborate with Facility stakeholders and Leadership to engage appropriate input in contracting initiatives.

  • Manage contract expiration and renewals and notifying key stakeholders.

  • Ensure all contract language meets PH&S standards.

  • Ensure proper loading of contracted pricing and reviews for accuracy over course of contract life.

  • Assist Manager Strategic Sourcing, Price Management in developing sourcing strategy.

  • Apply and enforce procurement practices in accordance with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and accounting practices for establishing appropriate inventory management controls in conjunction with established system technical accounting bulletins (TAB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business or finance or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • A minimum of 3 years of Region or enterprise level strategic sourcing or experience in a healthcare setting.

  • 5 years total relevant supply chain management experience.

  • Proficiency with the MS-Office suite of products, Outlook, and general ERP knowledge.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • CPRM certification preferred.

  • Region level experience with strategy development and contract management.
