Aston Carter Accountant in Renton, Washington

Description:

Responsible for assisting Managers with full accounting cycle as well as A/P, A/R, and other responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL AP FUNCTIONS:

• Process vendor invoices and research any invoice discrepancies to resolve issues.

• Responsible for vendor setups and maintain vendor records.

• Apply tax rules where applicable when processing invoices.

• Process checks for payment and upload to bank.

• Prepare daily cash balance updates to managers.

• Process manual check requests ensuring all appropriate approvals have been received.

• Research vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies as they come up and follow up on any outstanding issues immediately.

• Follow guidelines for purchase/invoice discrepancies.

• Administer compliance of two-level authorities on miscellaneous purchases.

• Analyze expense reports for accuracy, validity, and coding (if costs are allocated also provide photocopy for inter-company billing)

• Month end accruals and closing process by month end timeline.

• Analyze PO status report weekly and cleanup outstanding issues and items.

• Help convert manual AP process to automated process.

• Administer/maintain 1099 information and process annually to meet IRS deadlines.

ESSENTIAL AR FUNCTIONS (BACKUP):

• Prepare and distribute invoicing daily.

• Responsible for collections on all accounts by contacting the customer.

• Research and resolve customer claims and process and issue credit memos after research has been completed.

• Set up and maintain all customer credit files including checking credit references.

• Process all month end closings.

• Update all procedures as needed and/or annually.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• BA in Accounting or requisite relevant experience

• Two to four years’ experience in General Accounting

• Working Knowledge of US GAAP

• Ability to communicate clearly – both verbally and written
