PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $147,800.00-$180,600.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $114,700.00 - $213,700.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As a Staff Network Engineer at BECU, you will have a direct impact on our journey by leading and influencing multiple teams to build, configure, and maintain network systems that support internal and external BECU business and technology customers. This role is also responsible for building and maintaining scripting and automation solutions, and for solving complex engineering challenges to support core operations platforms. The Staff Network Engineer will partner with and mentor other network engineers in engineering skills and capabilities and collaborate with business and systems analysts to operate enterprise-class products and services. The Staff Network Engineer will inform and develop the engineering organization on new patterns and practices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Designing and Deploying Network Systems and Services: Evaluate, recommend, and deploy network systems and services with a security-first mindset, ensuring end-to-end network security and anticipating upcoming needs based on experience and business understanding.

  • Design, create and support bi-modal and hybrid network infrastructure: Design, build, secure, operate hybrid patterns, monitor, and diagnose across hybrid cloud. Anticipate upcoming needs in the environment based on experience and business understanding and lead efforts to proactively address them.

  • Providing Technical Expertise and Guidance: Present technical expertise, guidance, and advice to product teams and peers, bringing best practices to the engineering community and creating standards and guidelines in collaboration with senior leadership.

  • Staying Aligned with Organizational and Industry Patterns: Stay informed by attending conferences, training, and communities of practice, and sharing learnings and findings with peers and internal partners.

  • Improving Telemetry and Problem Resolution: Analyze complex telemetry and problem trends to improve coverage, resiliency, redundancy, and reduce outages and time to resolution. Implement telemetry for operations to increase reliability, availability, and confidentiality of products and services.

  • Developing and Automating Services and Processes: Manage, develop, and automate services and processes using knowledge of scripting languages.

  • Drive Technical Strategies and Implement Best Practices: Drive technical strategies within networking across the organization in partnership with senior leadership and architects, and design and implement best practices given requirements for software and systems in collaboration with team members and senior leaders.

  • Attend conferences, training, and communities of practice : Present learnings and findings to peers and internal partners. Work with management to identify and create training opportunities for the networking roles

  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required to/from BECU facilities.

  • On-call support rotations to provide 24 x 7 coverage will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 7 years of related functional experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in two or more of the following disciplines: Public Cloud Networking (Azure ExpressRoute, Azure virtual networking, private endpoint, Azure vHub, vWAN), Enterprise Networking, Firewalls

  • Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network services and systems to production in a hybrid team environment required.

  • Technical focus in two or more of the following disciplines required: Routing, Switching, MPLS, BGP, VPN, NAC, Firewalls, load-balancing, DNS, or other modern enterprise network infrastructure systems.

  • Advanced understanding of how to troubleshoot, monitor, integrate, configure, and administer physical and virtual network appliances and/or internal platforms for BECU's use required.

  • Advanced experience optimizing, debugging using one or more scripting languages. Uses systematic debugging/troubleshooting to diagnose cross service issues required.

  • Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies and lean principles (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Demos, Retrospectives, etc.) required.

  • Advanced knowledge in the Build, Monitor, and Maintenance of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS network and networking components required.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills required. Previous experience communicating with and influencing executives, leadership, and product groups required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Certification in Cisco (CCNA) and/or competing Network Technologies; Microsoft AZ- 104, AZ-700

  • Advanced experience integrating security at design time and regularly evaluating efficacy of security measures

  • Previous experience using ITIL, traditional infrastructure, service management, modern software delivery practices, end-to-end automation concepts, and how to leverage tools to achieve these goals preferred.
