PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $122,000.00-$149,100.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $94,500.00 - $176,500.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Senior Data Modeler at BECU, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing data models that power our Enterprise Data Platforms (EDP), Operational Data Stores (ODS), and other critical projects. Your expertise in SQL, NoSQL, Document DB, Databricks, and Snowflake will enable you to create robust, scalable data architectures that drive insights and efficiency across the organization. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and optimize data processes, contributing to the overall success of our data strategy. Your work will enhance data quality and accessibility, making a tangible impact on how BECU leverages data to serve our members.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you call any of these states home, you're in luck! We offer the flexibility of remote work for residents in these locations, allowing you to contribute from the comfort of your own home.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Design and Develop Data Models: Create, maintain, and optimize conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support BECU’s data initiatives and new data offerings.

  • Document and Manage Data: Develop comprehensive data models, including data dictionaries, metadata, and entity-relationship diagrams, ensuring thorough documentation and clear communication.

  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with Data Architects, Developers, and Analysts to translate internal customer needs into effective, meaningful data models.

  • Enforce Standards: Uphold and enforce data modeling standards, guidelines, and best practices, collaborating with Data Governance to develop new standards when necessary.

  • Ensure Data Security: Maintain data security and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, safeguarding BECU’s data assets.

  • Communicate Complex Concepts: Translate complex data and data modeling concepts into clear, understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Optimize Database Performance: Support the design and implementation of database schemas and structures, focusing on performance tuning and optimization.

  • Contribute Beyond the Role: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and drive the success of BECU’s data initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business, or equivalent work or educational experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical/logical data modeling and database design for both relational and non-relational databases.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data models.

  • Organizational skills, with the ability to document and present data models effectively.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.

  • Experience modeling for transaction processing and analytics.

  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry.

  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

  • Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies.

  • Expert knowledge of data modeling and metadata management tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio.

  • Knowledge of the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) information architecture.
