PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $94,000.00-$114,900.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $73,300.00 - $135,700.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE

As the Manager Loan Loss Recovery at BECU, you will lead and oversee the operations of our Loan Loss Recovery department, ensuring that our collection practices are both effective and compliant with state and federal regulations, and Credit Union policies. Your leadership will play a crucial role in minimizing risk, managing charged off accounts, and guiding your team to achieve excellence. By fostering a fair and professional approach to collections, you will help protect BECU’s assets while maintaining a positive experience for our members. Your contributions will directly impact the financial health of the Credit Union and support our commitment to serving our community with integrity.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Oversee Daily Operations: Supervise the daily functions of the Loan Loss Recovery department, ensuring all activities align with Credit Union policies and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Manage Collection Systems: Oversee the computerized collection system, adhering to state and federal laws as well as internal policies to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.

  • Monitor Accounts and Processes: Maintain and monitor contact and Post Charge off collection/recovery efforts, ensuring processes are handled within current parameters to optimize Recovery opportunities and impact Net Charge Offs.

  • Develop and Implement Standards: Create and continuously review collection standards, policies, and procedures to enhance department effectiveness and minimize risk.

  • Lead a Professional Team: Ensure a professional, businesslike approach to collections, balancing fairness with a rigorous collection program to protect BECU’s interests.

  • Analyze and Report: Maintain statistical records and produce management reports to estimate staffing needs and optimize the department's efficiency and productivity.

  • Budget Management: Develop, submit, and manage the annual budget for the Loan Loss Recovery team, ensuring expenditures stay within approved guidelines.

  • Coach and Mentor Team Members: Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training to develop your team’s skills and encourage high performance, conducting timely personnel evaluations using BECU Competencies.

  • Document Procedures: Ensure all departmental procedures are thoroughly documented and regularly updated to reflect current practices and regulations.

  • Stay Informed on Regulations: Maintain a thorough understanding of all relevant rules, regulations, and laws affecting collections and recovery management activities, including bankruptcy, repossession, and fraud.

  • Support Additional Duties: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the department and the broader goals of BECU.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline required, or equivalent work or educational experience.

  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience in the collection industry preferred, which includes exposure to consumer loans (including real estate, home equity, automobile and credit card). Must also have extensive experience in legal, repossession, bankruptcy, foreclosure and real estate owned properties.

  • Minimum four years of experience in a leadership role, including managing teams, providing coaching and mentoring, and driving performance improvements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Credit Union Nation Association Financial Counseling program preferred or continuing education to obtain same.

  • Prior experience in developing and maintaining budgets.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, develop strategic insights, and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
