Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager II in Redmond, Washington

Join the Microsoft AI Live Site Engineering team and help us deliver innovative world-class production metrics, tools, and processes at Internet scale. We build and evolve metrics, tools and process to ensure resiliency for Consumer Copilot, Bing, Ads, Windows News Feeds, Edge New Tab Page, etc. We are looking for technical program managers who are passionate to work on service reliability, observability, incident management and retrospective, using Azure and cutting-edge technologies like SLMs/LLMs, .Net core, React JS, Databases etc. You will have the opportunity to solve interesting challenges in service management at scale, build automated bots using SLMs/LLMs (Small/Large Language Models), drive SLO attainment for production metrics and continuous service hardening improvement. Bing, Copilot, Edge and Windows news feeds serve billions of transactions via services hosted on hundreds of thousands of servers across the world. As a Technical Program Manager II in the team, you need to build tools, processes and metrics to help partners across Microsoft AI solve critical service management/Live Site problems. You will work with Software Engineering to design technical solutions. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations. You’ll define success criteria as you collaborate with others to implement features for cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across teams. With minimal supervision, you will help deliver on roadmaps for feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and stay updated with governance programs. You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and partnering with others to collect metrics. You’ll also contribute to incident management and post mortems/retrospectives, centering on advocating for our end users and partners. Please note this role does not provide international relocations and requires 50%+ time presence in the Redmond office.

  • With minimal supervision, you will help deliver on roadmaps for feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and stay updated with governance programs.

  • Drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and partnering with other departments to collect performance metrics. Contribute to customer support and participate in direct customer engagements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • 1+ year working in a production engineering, service operations or SRE role.

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
