Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager II in Redmond, Washington

As a Technical Program Manager II in the Azure Core Customer Common Platform & Technology team, you will be driving a critical performance benchmark program for a set of important data plane services and platforms that we ship to millions of customers, and we strive to ensure customers are getting the best performance for their workloads that run on Azure. This opportunity will allow you to partner with leaders from those services, define and build program success metrics and KPI’s that will be presented in readouts to leadership.

You will hone your skills on micro benchmarks and industry standards and applications, to measure and build insights needed to drive improvements back into the platform. We have customer empathy and are determined to find underlying platform issues that would prevent customers from getting the best performance out of our systems, whether it’s storage throughput and latencies, networking related metrics and system/CPU level performance and more. This position is based in Redmond, but there is a flexible work opportunity where you can work from remote partially.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.

  • You’ll define success criteria as you collaborate with others to implement features for cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across teams.

  • With minimal supervision, you will help deliver on roadmap for feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and stay updated with governance programs.

  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and partnering with other departments to collect performance metrics. You’ll also contribute to customer support and participate in direct customer engagements.

  • Work with customers and partner teams to identify scenarios and establish priorities for competitive performance metrics and goals.

  • Lead product and semester planning areas for E2E scenarios based on customer inputs, and define OKR’s with execution plans.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Experience in competitive benchmarking workloads and methodologies.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications;

  • 1+ year(s) of experience defining performance metrics for cloud services and driving engineering teams

  • 1+ year(s) of experience delivering exec presentations, with proficient written and oral communication

  • Technical background and solid foundation in modern software engineering principles

  • Cross-team collaboration skills

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
