Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager 2 - Linux in Redmond, Washington

Our group is responsible for the Linux operating systems that power Azure – from VMs and containers, to bare metal, and silicon – in the cloud and at the edge. We work closely with upstream communities, with software and hardware vendors, OEMs, Linux distribution partners, and with hundreds of customers inside and outside Microsoft to create and operate OS platforms and products with the highest security, hardware-accelerated performance, and innovation agility. As a Technical Program Manager 2 - Linux, you will be responsible for driving operating system contributions to cloud infrastructure across the entire product lifecycle – from planning to execution to running in production. You will work closely with engineering, product management, and partners from across the company to drive outcomes. Responsibilities

  • You will drive workstreams leveraging and enhancing Azure Linux for use in cloud infrastructure, defining and tracking success criteria and performance metrics across multiple feature areas.

  • You will work with hardware and software engineering partners on identifying efforts architectural design considerations that will be analyzed, prioritized, designed, implemented, and deployed into production for the use of our partners and customers.

  • You will contribute to, prioritize, and deliver on the roadmap of features for future iterations of combined hardware/systems software solutions.

  • You will identify areas where Microsoft can meaningfully engage in and contribute to the broader open source communities delivering Linux to embedded solutions and bare metal.

  • You will enable sustainability of customer solutions by providing documentation, best practices, and guidelines as well as advocating for improvements in support processes.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Linux or similar embedded systems

  • Experience as a program or product manager having seen a program or product from inception to delivery

  • Experience working with cloud host, edge compute, or other embedded devices

  • Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams

  • Knowledge of hardware development lifecycles or system software delivery with a focus on device drivers and system servicing, or

  • Experience working with device OEMs or ODMs in a program, product manager, or equivalent engineering role.

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
