Actalent Technical Designer III in Redmond, Washington


Title: Technical Designer III

Schedule: 100% remote

DESCRIPTION: As part of a team, you will be responsible to create and release models, drawings, and configurations of engine hardware with a focus on machined parts. You will share in the teams impact on all aspects of design, analysis, assembly, testing and support of flight operations. Your passion for space vehicle support systems means you are committed to the necessary quality and attention to detail required to support human space flight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


  • Design and maintain component and assembly product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies

  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly

  • Apply relevant company, industry (design, drafting, parts) standards to engineering designs

  • Implement engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements

  • Self-prioritize and self-schedule work activity in support of the team

Additional Skills & Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of design and drafting experience of structural parts, precision components, and subsystems using Creo/Wildfire/Pro-Engineer

  • Proficient in Creo Piping

  • Proficient in Windchill and Creo View

  • Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and great communication skills

  • Knowledge of fabrication and integration processes for machined components and welded assemblies

  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings

  • Proficient with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, etc.


  • 15+ years of design and drafting experience off structural parts, precision components, and subsystems using Creo/Wildfire/Pro-Engineer

  • Working knowledge of materials, machine design, mechanisms and additive manufacturing (AM) techniques

  • Experience in component/assembly level structural/thermal FEA

  • Extensive practice in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)

  • Rocket engine structural and fluid systems experience
