Meta System Characterization Engineer, Camera & Depth in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

The team is seeking a System Characterization Engineer to perform camera and depth characterization and design validation activities, connecting hardware performance to systems and features performance.

Required Skills:

System Characterization Engineer, Camera & Depth Responsibilities:

  1. Define and execute experimental methodologies for characterizing cameras and depth modules and systems

  2. Implement robust statistical data processing to infer system performance

  3. Connect hardware performance to system and feature performance including classical and ML data processing pipelines

  4. Reconcile differences between models versus experimental data, to enable insights on system behavior or anomalies

  5. Collaborate within the team and with external teams in areas of algorithms, software, data analysis, manufacturing, and system characterization

  6. Deliver technical presentations on experimental methodologies and results to cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. MS or PhD Degree in Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline

  2. 2+ years industry experience in camera or display system characterization, validation, and/or test methodologies

  3. 2+ years experience setting up optical systems for camera characterization

  4. 2+ years experience performing data analysis in Matlab or Python

  5. 2+ years experience automating lab experiments with data capture software

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a highly interconnected and interdisciplinary environment.

  2. Working knowledge of modern camera ISPs in consumer electronics

  3. Working knowledge of camera-based tracking systems such as Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)

  4. Experience characterizing embedded cameras, such as cellphone cameras

  5. Experience characterizing displays in consumer electronics

  6. Experience characterizing of optical systems in Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality devices

  7. Experience developing and training Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence systems and evaluating their performance

  8. Experience with joint hardware-software development and associated rapid prototyping.

Public Compensation:

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
