As a Starlink Manufacturing Engineer at SpaceX you will have the opportunity to utilize your creativity and experience to design, build, and implement test systems to support development, qualification, and acceptance testing of flight hardware. The team is looking for an engineer with experience in a manufacturing production environment to help further develop our testing infrastructure and tools.RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with a cross-discipline team to scale-up reliable, automated test infrastructureDevelop modular, reusable test and automation code in python and similar languages for manufacturing and engineering design verificationOwn the development of test equipment from conception to deployment, carefully balancing product specifications, process requirements, complexity, cost, and lead-timesContribute to the software tools and frameworks which are used to automate test equipmentProgram automated assembly and test equipmentDevelop data analysis tools to track and report trends in key parameters and interpret failuresDeploy automated processes and equipment into productionWork closely with development and design engineers, internal machine shops, and external vendors to make parts that are designed for manufacturability. Lead design and analysis changes to existing production hardware in order to reduce build hours and eliminate non-conformancesDevelop automated robotic work centers including design, analysis, manufacturing, and verification testing of the work centersCreate and maintain build schedules that list all discrete fabrication and assembly tasks. Ensure that all parts are fabricated, assembled, and/or purchased at the correct time to facilitate the build schedulesOperate production work centers to ensure on-cost, on-time delivery of both development and production propulsion systems and componentsLead process improvement projects to continuously enhance production operations on the shop floorManufacturing risk identification and mitigationResolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication, and assembly)BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline2+ years of experience in product design, development, fabrication, assembly, or testPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:1+ years of experience supporting test and automation to maintain production and transition products from development to manufacturingExperience with testing of electric propulsion systemsCapable of writing software in languages such as Python, C#, and CCapable of writing PLC code on platforms such as BeckhoffExperience developing and operating vacuum chambers including operating support equipment such as RGAs and leak detectorsExperience automating processes and testing to improve manufacturing yields and reduce production timeExperience writing SQL queriesExperience working with mid-high volume manufacturingExperience with Siemens NX/Teamcenter, fluid schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDandT)Experience with process development, facility and line layouts, PFMEA, error-proofing, and/or Lean manufacturingExperience with design for manufacturability and assemblyHighly self-motivated and organized with strong written and oral communication
