The team’s charter is to optimize our investments in cloud infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve both profit and gross margin growth. As a crucial member of the team, you’ll also support long term bets and drive competitive intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of the competition. All while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments, safeguarding shareholder interest.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Sr Finance Manager to drive decision support and insights across all Azure product teams to grow margins from Infrastructure applications and improve customer experience.

  • Develop multi-year investment and gross margin model; recommend high impact cost efficiencies strategies to ensure sustainable long-term margin expansion.

  • Partner with engineering, supply chain and finance partners to build an aligned cross-org cost efficiency plan, establishing committed OKRs and providing periodic progress updates.

  • Conduct financial analysis and provide deep business insights into the Azure COGS and Gross Margin performance. Partner with peer MSIO finance teams to understand capacity COGS to articulate all up Gross Margin story.

  • Drive consistent ROI framework across orgs for proposed cost efficiency investments.

  • Own operational driver analysis and bottoms up inputs across Azure finance team. Provide key insights on business health trends across inter-organizational finance and engineering leadership team for effective decision making.

  • Create and execute core monthly financial processes, reporting and provide visibility into execution variance versus plan. Communicate results to Engineering business partners and facilitate trade off decision making to mitigate financial risk.

  • Partner across finance orgs, including revenue, COGS workload, R&D and customer support to drive results

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 2+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree

  • Strong partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence business partners without direct authority and to appropriately push back when required

  • High level of intellectual curiosity, and interest in the latest trends in AI technology

  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, fast moving environments with evolving technology and business model trends

  • Strongly prefer deep understanding of the technology industry, particularly commercial public and private cloud services, business models and economics

  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way. Executive level oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project results through both individual and virtual-team efforts

  • Strong analytical skills, financial modeling capabilities, and ability to think strategically

  • Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed monetization, cost analysis

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize for impact and the resourcefulness to deliver
