We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.

As a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design solutions. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

• Work closely with hardware teams and operation teams to align on requirements

• Create software designs to satisfy requirements

• Develop embedded software in Rust, C, C++, or other modern languages for Linux and real-time operating system (RTOS) based systems

• Write device drivers and system applications for the various satellite systems.

About the team

Our team tackles many critical satellite functions including power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, and autonomous control.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
