Microsoft Business Operations is looking for a Sr. Communications Manager to build and execute our strategic Communications Framework. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in working with leaders across the organization and in CSEO to develop unique communications, including social media and events that tell great stories to amplify business impact.

Core Services Engineering and Operations (CSEO) is focused on Microsoft’s cross-engineering and strategy, execution and planning initiatives. Core Services Engineering builds and manages the critical products and services that Microsoft runs on. Microsoft Operations makes doing business with Microsoft easy.

As the Sr. Communications Manager, you will deliver a world-class communication framework that aligns with our long-term plan to drive organizational effectiveness and use communications to enable employees to do their best work. As a member of the Strategy and Business Excellence team you will work along side the Corporate Vice President to create and deliver meaningful, effective communications.

This position has a high level of interaction across the senior leadership team and you will need to be an excellent collaborator and be able to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization. You will work in a fast-paced environment and know how to iterate quickly so flexibility and strategic influence are essential. We are looking for someone who is ready to roll up their sleeves and join a team that is developing the digital transformation story for Microsoft Business Operations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage executive communication strategy and plan for Microsoft Business Operations including an editorial plan.

  • Manage all speaking engagements for CVP. Work closely with CVP to craft internal and external messages and brand including key business and industry messages.

  • Drive speaker preparation, rehearsals develop final presentations, briefing documents and talking points for CVP events and field visits. Build compelling speeches, videos, emails, social media posts and other communications.

  • Build innovative and effective presentations to reinforce key Operations messages. Collect and analyze presentation feedback and revise presentation materials accordingly.

  • Partner with key stakeholders and Chief of Staff to land messages internally. Manage org wide all hands events. Consult with event owners and align compelling audience specific messages for internal, customers, partner audiences.

  • Integrate strategy and vision into how we communicate with a deliberate drumbeat. Build compelling stories that will tell and amplify our digital transformation. Drive adoption of the strategic communication framework to equip leaders and the organization with key messages.

  • Collaborate with other Microsoft communications managers to define and manage content that supports individual communication strategies, while ensuring alignment to corporate and organizational messaging strategy.

  • The nature of this role requires the ability to work effectively and gain respect of diverse groups, including executives, content and business owners and event teams.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Operations, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required.

  • 7 years' minimum experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Operations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and time management skills.

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, drive through ambiguity to clarity, and to solve routine problems proactively and effectively.

  • Experience with event management and/or coordination

  • Ability to embrace change while continuing to have professional and positive interactions.

  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, integrity and professionalism in all interactions.

  • Aptitude to work independently without significant oversight or instruction to achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work successfully in a highly inclusive team environment, building effective working relationships inside and outside of the group, accommodating work styles and perspectives of diverse individuals.

  • Consistently demonstrate a "can-do" attitude

  • Collaborate with Chief of Staff on any cross-CSEO and MBO communications efforts.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (particularly spelling and grammar) with an eye for detail.

  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to deal with tight deadlines in a fast-paced team, the ability to multi-task and be flexible, and attend to important issues quickly.

  • Team player with strong stakeholder management skills, an ability to work across boundaries with diverse teams located around the world, occasionally at unusual times of the day.

  • Ability to work autonomously and enjoy owning their work and has a strong sense of pride in producing outstanding results.

  • Ability to suggest new ideas and solutions, solve problems creatively, develop new ideas and approaches to unusual or difficult situations.
