Microsoft Corporation Sr. Communications Manager in Redmond, Washington
The Customer Success Communications & Events team is a creative and diverse team who deliver results. We are seeking an experienced, customer-obsessed, communications manager to help effectively communicate the organization’s strategy and vision to our customers, employees, and stakeholders. You will work across business functions, technical solution areas regions and all levels of the organization to make sure we are driving cloud consumption and creating enduring success for our customers as part of the connected customer experience. You will actively listen and employ data to craft what and how we communicate, shape, and amplify content to inform the Customer Success organization.
In this role, you will develop the strategy and drive the campaigns – from editorial planning to copywriting/editing, to multi-channel delivery and reporting.
The ideal candidate is an experienced communicator who enjoys developing narrative and messaging based on data and insights to convey business strategy. You have crafted data-driven narratives, thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, and have proven experience managing priorities and working effectively across a number of internal stakeholders. You demonstrate successful executive presence, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to influence others. You are someone who can simplify the complex into accessible and creative narratives. You have experience crafting communications that reflect the impact of business initiatives and thrive on finding the right channel for the right message.
Written Communications : Acts as a consultant to executives and all levels of management in preparing presentations and developing documents. Author materials for various technical field and corporate audiences, leveraging the right strategies and integrating across multi-media channels. Use your storytelling skills to build out PowerPoint presentations, executive emails, and other content. Help write communications aligned to the brand and corporate messaging.
Business Acumen : Understand customer success, solution areas, and supporting data/insights to show it ties to a connected customer experience. This includes skill in understanding the industry, competition, and expected future developments and challenges, the business's competitive strengths and weaknesses, opportunities to grow the business and reduce operating costs; and awareness of the environment for opportunities.
Program Management : Drive a comprehensive editorial strategy and plan, including creating and managing the internal communication calendar. Operationalize functions by helping lay a program framework (workback calendar, guidelines, program templates, scripts, videos, interactivity, etc.), and work with across teams to execute flawlessly.
Executive Presence - The ability to interact confidently with senior leaders of the organization and communicate business strategy in an executive tone. This includes the ability to confidently address difficult questions, handle push back from a high-level audience, and maintain an executive demeanor while engaging in difficult or sometimes high-pressure situations.
Ambiguity Management - The ability to manage ambiguous and conflicting strategic interests and/or objectives, including sorting and prioritizing ambiguous information in a timely fashion.
Collaboration: Collaborate across a globally diverse, multi-disciplinary, technical organization.
7+ years experience effectively communicating the organization’sstrategy and vision to our customers, employees, and stakeholders
