Required Skills:

Software Engineer, Video Codec - Reality Labs Responsibilities:

  1. Research, develop, and troubleshoot real-time communication

  2. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand features, operation, and specify enhancements

  3. Optimizing and improving video

  4. Debugging and diagnosing quality of end-to-end video experience on lossy networks in real-time communication scenarios

  5. Define the video optimization roadmap for both current and future devices with new hardware encoders and decoders

  6. Lead the definition and implementation of media processing framework and pipelines

  7. Continuously improve the efficiency of the automated test tooling by leveraging the internal automated test infrastructure

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 5+ years software development experience in industry settings OR PhD +2 years of experience

  3. 3+ years of software development experience in image or video processing.

  4. Understanding of the multimedia stack or experience in media frameworks for video or audio playback

  5. Experience in C/C++ multithreaded programming

  1. Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience

  2. Experience in RTC/WebRTC or video with networking

  3. Knowledge about video codec standards like H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC), VP9, AV1

  4. Experience with configuring or modifying video encoders

  5. Experience building FFmpeg filters or have worked with FFmpeg APIs

$70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
