Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars.SOFTWARE ENGINEER, FRONTEND (STARLINK)SpaceX is looking for a Frontend Software Engineer with a passion for building intuitive high performance data visualizations and user interfaces to monitor the Starlink network and satellite constellation. You will work closely with network operators, hardware engineers, and software engineers to bring observability to a rapidly expanding network of millions of assets. The tools you build will empower Starlink to make optimal decisions based on simulations and respond in real time to the state of the constellation with clarity.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop well-architected, responsive, and performant web-based applicationsDeliver expert level JavaScript, HTML, and CSS code for modern browsersCraft aesthetically and functionally flawless user experiencesBuild custom graphics rendering tools to expose emergent network dynamics found in live datasetsDefine the optimal data pipelines and formats required to power live simulations and monitoring tools in real time with high reliabilityCollaborate with peers on architecture, design, and code reviewsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, physics, mathematics,or a STEM discipline1+ years of professional, open source, or educational/intern experience in frontend engineering, data science, data engineering, or software engineeringPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Development experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as ReactExperience working with real time rendering of geometry and associated metadataExperience working with production data pipelines at scaleExperience with one or more backend languages, such as Python, Go, C++, or Node.jsDomain experience or experience in a related discipline such as games, autonomous vehicles, or remote sensingExperience with open source software and browser-based graphics APIs, such as WebGLExperience with compute-heavy UI optimization strategies, such as worker threads, WASM, and browser-optimized data structuresPassion for accessible design grounded in research, such as color theoryExperience working with in-stream data processing of structured and semi-structured dataDemonstrated ability to own projects from start to completionGood understanding of statistics and visual display of quantitative informationStrong attention to detailADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.ITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
