As a software engineer on the Hardware Test team, you will develop software that quickly and thoroughly validates that each piece of hardware on our satellites will survive/withstand launch and function in orbit. You'll work with space lasers, flight computers, high-frequency RF systems, actuators, power conversion systems, and other satellite subsystems that make up Starlink. Our engineers are endlessly curious, love to learn and try out new things, and work collaboratively across disciplines in a dynamic environment with changing needs as we strive to deliver high-impact technology on a global scale.RESPONSIBILITIES: Create modular, reusable software in Python to automate manufacturing processes and testsAutomate control of a wide variety of cutting-edge test and measurement equipmentDevelop data analysis tools to track and report trends in manufacturing dataOptimize software to eliminate production bottlenecksCollaborate directly with the design and manufacturing engineers to validate flight hardware like space lasersActively maintain tests that support rapid design iteration of flight hardware and softwareDevelop software infrastructure that enables scaling to large numbers of devices under testPropose and develop a longer-term software architecture for automated test infrastructure, encompassing instrument control, data capture and data analysisBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar disciplineDevelopment experience in Python, C# or other object oriented languagePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world applications/projectsStrong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testingCreative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentalsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalExperience developing software used in manufacturing environmentsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be available to work extended hours as neededITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
