Amazon Software Development Manager, Avionics Verification and Test in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We are looking for a technical leader, who has a demonstrated track record of building strong engineering teams and delivering complex solutions, to lead the Electrical Engineering Test Software team for this advanced satellite broadband communications service.

Export Control Requirement:

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders across hardware and software development teams to define test strategy and requirements.

  • Lead the vision and execution for Kuiper’s Hardware Validation solutions including Hardware-in-the-Loop Systems.

  • Staff and build the test software team with top-notch validation, test, and automation engineers.

  • Architect and build software to automate hardware test systems and support CI/CD

  • Develop software infrastructure to support test case execution

  • Support manufacturing as well as new product development

  • Enable automated data collection, data analysis

  • Own and execute software quality and release process

A day in the life

You will have the opportunity to lead the vision and execution of the Avionics Test Software team. This team writes software to test exciting products before launching into space. Your software leadership/architecture will enable the team to validate designs and ensure all hardware is space-worthy.

About the team

You will interface closely with multiple subsystem, software, and test teams, provide technical input and guidance on test design, and support as needed with detailed analysis and test execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
