343 Industries is looking for an Software Development Engineer to work on the backend services team, building and supporting the infrastructure that enables the team to rapidly build, test, and release these services to the studio and our live players. In this role you will also leverage your multi-tiered services knowledge and experiences as you sustain and improve internal service systems that support the game development teams within 343 Industries. You will be provided opportunities to grow your knowledge and skills as you leverage bleeding edge cloud and services technologies, creating the next cloud services for 343 Industries and the future of Halo. Roles at our studio are flexible, and you can work from home up to two days a week in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the services team’s build and release infrastructure, including the Azure DevOps build and release pipelines, automated deployments to internal environments, and the team’s custom website tooling.

  • Maintain and enhance services and tools that support the game development experience.

  • Participate in designing, developing, and managing large scale distributed systems and services.

  • Gain understanding of how the cloud services we build power experiences in our games and other user interactions.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years’ experience with modern developer operations practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization and orchestration technologies (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Azure Kubernetes Services).

  • 2+ years’ experience with cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, and cloud resource offerings including, but not limited to, cloud data storage, cloud computing services/Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), cloud-based data streaming services, and secrets management offerings for cloud-native systems.

  • 1+ year knowledge/experience building RESTful web services.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, creating and maintaining YAML-based build and release pipelines.

  • Experience with Azure cloud platform technologies, especially Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Blob & Table Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure KeyVault.

  • 1+ year knowledge/experience building web sites, utilizing web application frameworks (e.g. Angular).

  • Knowledge of the “actor model” and building scalable service systems utilizing an actor framework (e.g. Orleans).

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
