As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Cloud Hardware Analytics and Tools (CHAT) team is instrumental in delivering the tools, data and business intelligence required to support the SCHIE team.

The CHAT team is primarily responsible for managing the Azure Dev Ops (ADO) services for SCHIE. We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team.

ADO is a critical service used by development teams in the normal course of business. Many teams have their own instance of ADO, which needs to be centrally managed and supported by the CHAT team. In this role you will be responsible for processing a large volume of customer requests from intake to completion. There is a wide range of ticket scenarios requiring understanding and experience with ADO and Azure. In your daily work you will be communicating with multiple partners and team members so communication and organization is key to success.

Responsibilities

  • Develops an understanding of the code, features, and operations of specific products at scale as required to contribute to incremental improvements in product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and/or performance; participates in on-boarding, code/design reviews, and regular meetings with the engineering teams that develop and/or manage those products

  • Manage ticket based work requests.

  • Setup and maintain ADO instances.

  • Communicate with and provide status to partners about planned and ongoing work.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 2+ years of network operations experience.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Azure management.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of operations experience

  • Hands on experience with Azure ADO management

  • Coding experience in .Net, Java, Python, etc.

Site Reliability Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
