That’s where you come in: we’re searching for a Senior UX Researcher to join us in reimagining and designing end-to-end commerce and ecosystem experiences. We are looking for an experienced Senior UX researcher who can understand complex problem spaces, conceptualize creative solutions across boundaries, be at the fore-front of our generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) customer experiences, and articulate a clear design point-of-view to create positive change at scale. Responsibilities

  • Design and execute promptly on a cohesive and focused research plan for a critical area, establishing Jobs To Be Done (JTBD) and experience outcomes as a guidepost for the team to strive towards

  • Balance both agile and strategic research methods on a daily basis to influence product direction, and overall user experience.

  • Produce impactful artifacts generated from research findings which are visually rich and bring clarity to the space being studied. 

  • Partner with Design, Product Management and Engineering to deliver experiences that are simple, emotionally rewarding and that make employees, customers and partner’s lives better.

  • Understand industry trends and connect with other Microsoft product teams to share and leverage insights across the company.

  • Inspire and mentor both internal and external Designers & Researchers

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 4+ years User Experience Research experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years User Experience Research experience

  • OR Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 1+ year(s) User Experience Research experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 8+ years User Experience Research experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 6+ years User Experience Research experience

  •  OR Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years User Experience Research experience

  •  OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years relevant domain experience within technology sector.

  • 3+ years experience in research methods impacting both product direction and detailed experience design.

  • 1+ years of experience performing research in Design Sprints, Agile Development models and running large projects/programs.

  • Analytical and synthesis skills (both qualitative and quantitative) with an ability to turn research results into product insights.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross functionally with other teams (Engineering, Design, Product Management & Marketing).

  • Well established portfolio of research techniques from ethnography, field studies, interviews, usability studies, concept validation, user journey mapping, surveys, scorecards and analysis.  

UX Research IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
